Continuing our “Five Questions With …” blog series, we spoke with Junior Software Developer, Pim Sritawan. She joined TVSquared from CodeClan, the Edinburgh-based Digital Skills Academy. Following her internship, she is now a full-time member of the development team.

1 .What are you most proud of in your career so far?

My biggest achievement at TVSquared so far is working with a colleague to implement a new portal feature, which is now being used during our product demos to potential clients.

2. Is there an aspect of your role at TVSquared that you’re particularly excited about right now?

I’m really excited about working on new projects at TVSquared, and the endless opportunities to learn and engage my curiosity.

3. Why did you choose a career in software development?

After gaining a degree in Business with Human Resource Management I realized that I wanted to continue studying. I decided to get into Software Development after I paid $50 for a WordPress theme, and thought, “I should be able to do this myself, I want to be able to create websites from scratch.”

I looked online for training resources and found a meet-up where I could go every month to learn how to code from volunteer coaches. My first coach was a former student from CodeClan, and the more I heard about the Professional Software Development course and jobs available in the tech industry, the more I felt that being a Software Developer was the right career for me.

I took the plunge and did the course, and it’s been one of the best decisions of my life so far!

4. What’s your favorite TV ad campaign?

An advertisement that really stuck with me was one that evoked a lot of emotion, it really pulls at the heart strings. Whilst the advert isn’t selling a product in particular, it has made me remember the mobile operator Truemove H.

5. After a busy day, how do you like to relax?

As a lover of food, I like to relax by cooking or going out for food and drinks with my friends.
